Ban on Gay Marriage AND Civil Unions?

The Coalition for Marriage and Family, with the backing of Gov. Mitt Romney and The Massachusetts Family Institute, want to ban gay marriage and civil unions. This gives gays no options in their pursuit for legal recognition of their partnerships. Currently, Massachusetts is the only state where same-sex marriage is legally allowed. The state's supreme court ruled in 2003 that denying marriage rights to gay couples is unconstitutional. Since then there have been more than 5,000 legal same-sex marriages.
