Moving to Otis

2,500 Gulf Coast residents will be temporarily sheltered at the Otis Air National Guard Base. This is a good first step in helping our fellow Americans in their time of need. However, when the News Media shifts to Britney Spear's newborn or Robert Downing Jr's divorce will we still have the same drive and desire to help these people build their new lives?

Will they be able to deal with the harsh winters of the Cape? Will they be able to find work in Cape Cod's seasonal and tourist driven economy? Will they be able to commute to a job without reliable public transportation, a car or deal with climbing gas prices? Will they be able to become part of a community which (financially speaking) is obscenely out of reach (even for locals)? Will these people be successful in rebuilding their lives or are we setting them up to fail?
